As a rock and ice climber..and most of my life a "Weekend Warrior" I love as?Dan says..it's just about "Getting Out"! Finding our peace in the outdoors..I've done what some consider "Not" Thru hikes...the Monadanock Sunapee Greenway..the Wapak trail a 20 mile..and the near 300 Long Trail in Vt...all fantastic experiences...and in my back yard...I love it all.. more recently the longer..but as Dan says with kids and a job...these things are hard...but just to get out is the goal !❤

I would not be upset it bears went extinct or at least were severely restricted to true wilderness...I know that is politically incorrect but their threat spoils those of us who want to enjoy nature. Bear spray is not 100%.

As soon as he saw the bear, he should have pulled the bear spray and get ready. If the bear bluff charged or leave, no harm no foul, but if it does charge you can spay it at 20 to 30 feet out, and have your partner as a reserve force after you discharge your can. Why he partner was 10 feet behind him during this attack?

Thank you for sharing your story, I am so thankful God saved you! It has been my experience with trauma to redirect the story in my mind into a good outcome. I retell the stressful times in my brain by focusing on a healthy outcome. Never do I forget the truth of my trauma, just redirect my focus. This helps me. Years ago I heard a psychologist or psychiatrist give this example as a stress reliever. Memorizing Isaiah 6 was a game changer also. This is the chapter where God calls Isaiah, His humble servant, to a most difficult job, he is to speak God's truth to a spiritually decaying people. This is not what the Israelites want to hear! They want to live their lives the way they see fit and expect God to go along. If you study the prophets with the help of Matthew Henry's Commentaries, Commentaries on the Bible, you will gain a heart of wisdom, understanding, and discernment about who God is and what He expects out of each one of us. Our sins are forgiven period and our guilt gone. Going back in our minds and feeling guilty is not coming from the Holy Spirit, it is Evil and negates the power of Christ's work on the cross and resurrection. Now THAT IS FREEDOM IN CHRIST JESUS! Side note: many individuals do not understand that God did not put us on earth to gain happiness, love, wealth, friends, and never suffer without God keeping these, bad experiences" from us. They question God 's plan because they DO NOT READ HIS WORD. If they did, Genesis to Revelation, God's righteous purposes would come into our understanding. We are His planned out people. There has always been a plan for our lives, even to the day we are born and the day God calls us home. It is all there in His Holy Word. God wants His people to live for Him, not ourselves. Our innermost Holy Spirit, living Christ in each of His people. So, our flesh is nailed to the cross and we are raised in Christ Jesus for His purposes. We confess our sins to God and read and study His Word daily, memorize the Word, PRAY for our family and friends as well as our brother's and sisters throughout the world. We seek in Jesus name through His spirit to be living and powerful even to the dividing of Soul and Spirit, joints and marrow AND (my words here, knowing all the while,) is a discerner of our thoughts and intentions. There is nothing we can hide from God, just ask Jonah. So ask God, always in Jesus' name, to put His righteous holy light to all of our minds pointing out and convicting us of our sins. This is a righteous work of God through His Son's Holy Spirit. Keep short accounts with our Heavenly Holy Father. Tell God we love Him, are grateful and thankful for His loving grace that wrote our names down in the Savior's Book of Life. God bless and continue to use you daily. Dear Dan, I absolutely agree with you 100% regarding how you can see that God had his hand on him throughout, and after, the bear attack. It gave me chills when I heard him say he somehow ended up at a lodge where the owner lived nearby and OWNED a helicopter to air lift him to a hospital!!! That was a miracle, not to mention the miracles that happened with a bear attacking you 3 times and never severed any of his arteries... amazing! That was definitely God! I have said a prayer for Jeremy and his family, and will continue to do so as I know his story will stay with me for a while. Definitely worth sharing too.

This was a very interesting story. I’ve never heard of this incident. I also believe it had to do with the government. Maybe they reopened this case later because the relatives would be gone. I don’t remember what year this reopened. I’m sure you said but I don’t remember hearing.

Out of all the bear attack stories I’ve heard from victims, Jeremy gives the best description of what it was like. When someone’s relating something that happened, I like to be able to imagine it in my head, down to the sights and sounds. Not because I’m ghoulish, it’s just automatic with me. Dan was skillful at bringing minute details out, asking many of the same questions I had. I think it is so important that people who venture into bear territory really understand the absolute necessity of carrying adequate and easily accessible self-defense tools and to practice accessing those tools. To realize a bear’s incredible quickness, strength and agility and how it can be upon you with no warning. What defense do you have in the event you find yourself attacked by a bear you neither saw nor heard? Maybe one should also clip on a decent sized knife with open scabbard for quick access, a thick handle for better grip to stab a neck, leg, belly, face, stick in an open mouth. Lots to think about.

Lol I’m gonna be the only one that thinks he’s taken some liberties to this story. Yes attacked (horrible) but all this other baby shark stuff and medium temperature water with a straw. I call BS. Why would he think about killing himself after he just fought a bear three times. Come on. lol

If he WASN'T a "spiritual' person, he needs to be now. He's blessed to be alive and he definitely has a guardian angel. God had plans for his life. You don't have to be "religious" to believe in the Creator.

It's crazy because I had a really hard life after I was 5 till I was around 19 or 20 and did something stupid to get a 10 year sentence but I seen and Hurd some crazy things but my nephew killed himself with a gun I gave him and two days later I was in a head on car reck and had a to get life flighted I was ok at handling all my past but now I can't help but think about everything and I've add three more car wrecks since my first one and all this was like 2 years since my big wreck and my head went through the front window i can help but just sit in my house I want to do all kind of things but can't do anything at the same time

I thank God that you survived the horrible bear attack. I do pray that you ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you. I believe with all my heart that God gave you the strength and help of His Angels to assist you. Now that you are still here remember we're in a fallen world and we need a Savior for our souls. There's an eternity after death and the first humans opened the door to sin , which separated us from God. Please see John 3:3-16, Matthew and John in the New King James Bible. Heaven and Hell is real. He loves you and all people, but we need to ask Him if we are truly born again, this happens by sincere belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to die for our sins. He may not be spiritual or religious, but it seems everything about his story screems devine intervention.

If you are low income finding competent help at all is nearly impossible. All you set is social workers doing more damage. You MIGHT get a psychologist, maybe, oh unless your court ordered, then you get psychologists.

For years i used and still use this decathlon jacket as my winter jacket in combination with a very cheap marmot rain jacket. It also my hicking combo since years i was very impressed by the decathlon jacket at all.

I learned that we don't actually chose how we react in the moment. During my latest danger, I froze as well and that pissed me off and terrified me as well. All other times I would usually flee, fight if I had to but I had never ever froze or fawned before. I found it both reassuring and at the same time even more terrifying to know that the chances are my brain will chose freeze again. It goes to executive function, like breathing. Perhaps after some more training and hopefully visits to a very very good psychologist, they can get you to a place where your brain dosen't go to executive function and stays where YOU decide logically what to do. I get it, I really do.

This man's story is absolutely amazing. God must have been with him. I wonder if he's a believer. I mean, I would think if he wasn't that he would be after that crazy situation. . Edit: right after I typed the question about him being a believer he answers the question and I'm even more amazed that he is not a believer. So sad. So he clearly believes that he went through all of that and made it out alive by his own strength. That's crazy to me. Even the will to live comes from God. He gave us life and the will to live even under the most extreme circumstances. The Bible says that every knee shall bow and worship him. I just hope this man comes to know the truth before it's too late.
